The name *Amon* may echo the Egyptian deity Amun — if intentional by his parents, the name itself embodies the syncretism of the Menashe era. Alternatively, some scholars connect it to the Hebrew root *aman* (faithfulness/craft), as in Prov. 8:30, where Wisdom is personified as a master-craftsman (*amon*) at YHWH's side — a bitter irony if so. His two-year reign and violent end reduce him to a footnote. The queen mother's (*gevirah*) lineage is noted, as is customary in Kings, since the *gevirah* held genuine covenantal status in the court (cf. 1 Kings 2:19). *Yotbah* is likely in the Galilee region; its precise location remains uncertain.
