Menashe is buried not in the royal tombs of the City of David, where faithful kings were interred, but in a private garden — *gan Uzza*. This is a notable departure from the standard burial formula (cf. 2 Kings 15:7, 38), and most scholars read it as a mark of disgrace or at least irregularity. The narrator notes it without comment, allowing the detail to speak. *Gan Uzza* appears only here and in v. 26; its name is otherwise unknown, adding to its obscurity. FOG uses the Hebrew idiom *vayishkav im avotav* ('lay down with his fathers') to preserve the cadence; FOG Message renders 'rested with his ancestors' for clarity.
