Two reasons underwrite YHWH's defence: His own Name (*lema'ani* — 'for My sake') and the Davidic covenant (*lema'an David avdi* — 'for the sake of My servant David'). This is covenantal theology at its most concentrated: YHWH's reputation among the nations is inseparable from His faithfulness to His promises. The Davidic covenant of 2 Samuel 7 is the living anchor. FOG preserves the direct 'for My own sake'; FOG Message expands to 'for the honour of My own Name' to surface the *kiddush Hashem* dimension explicitly.
