He works from a personal encounter with Jesus first, then draws on the scholarship of respected Jewish and Christian scholars — because the church was Jewish before it was anything else, and those roots change everything about how you read Scripture.

Footnotes

The bronze altar was Solomon's original altar of sacrifice, standing *before YHWH* as the sanctioned covenantal meeting-point (1 Kgs 8:64; 2 Chr. 4:1). Its displacement to a secondary northern position is not administrative rearrangement—it is a symbolic dethronement. YHWH's altar is physically pushed to the margins of the sacred precinct to make room for a foreign cult object at the centre. The geography of worship mirrors the theology of Achaz's reign.
