He works from a personal encounter with Jesus first, then draws on the scholarship of respected Jewish and Christian scholars — because the church was Jewish before it was anything else, and those roots change everything about how you read Scripture.

isotēs is an economic and civic term from Hellenistic culture meaning 'equity' or 'proportional fairness'—not the enforced levelling of all to sameness, but a circulating surplus that prevents chronic deprivation in any part of the body. FOG renders it 'fair balance' to convey the proportional rather than egalitarian sense; FOG Message uses 'equality' with surrounding context that clarifies Paul's intent as mutual and reciprocal rather than enforced.
