τέλος—"end"—is genuinely ambiguous: it can mean the termination or cessation of the old covenant glory (the primary sense in both versions), or the goal and culmination to which that glory was always pointing, namely the Messiah Himself (as in Romans 10:4, "the Messiah is the τέλος of the Torah"). FOG uses "end" to stay close to the immediate narrative logic—the glory was disappearing, and the veil concealed that disappearance from Yisra'el. FOG Message's rendering equally remains open to the teleological freight: the veil prevented Israel from seeing that the Mosaic covenant was always oriented beyond itself toward its fulfilment.
