He works from a personal encounter with Jesus first, then draws on the scholarship of respected Jewish and Christian scholars — because the church was Jewish before it was anything else, and those roots change everything about how you read Scripture.

ἀπόκριμα (apokrima, "verdict/sentence") is a technical legal or administrative term—a formal ruling from a court or governing authority, not a vague feeling of dread. Sha'ul is saying the situation issued what felt like an official death sentence. This judicial register sets up the theological punchline: only the Elohim who raises the dead can overturn such a verdict. F.O.G uses "verdict" to emphasise the official pronouncement; F.O.G Message uses "sentence" to draw out its finality.
