The *shushan* (שׁוּשַׁן, lily) rim transforms this utilitarian basin into a work of beauty, echoing the lily-carved capitals of the pillars and the floral motifs throughout the Temple — sacred space as Eden re-imagined. The capacity figure presents a well-known textual challenge: 1 Kings 7:26 gives two thousand baths, Chronicles gives three thousand. The *bath* was approximately 22 litres, making the basin hold either ~44,000 or ~66,000 litres. These may reflect different measurement traditions or rounding conventions. FOG preserves the Chronicler's figure without harmonising; FOG Message gives it poetic texture with 'full bloom.'
