יָכִין (Yakhin, 'He will establish') and בֹּעַז (Boaz, 'In Him is strength' or 'By strength') together form a covenantal proclamation at the Temple's very threshold: YHWH will establish this house, and in Him resides the strength of the kingdom. The names may be the opening words of royal dedicatory inscriptions or blessing-formulas pronounced at the Temple's consecration. Yakhin shares its root with כּוּן (kun), the 'establish firmly' language of the Davidic covenant in 2 Samuel 7:12–13 — YHWH's promise to establish David's son's throne forever. Boaz is also the name of the kinsman-redeemer of Ruth, and both names together carry messianic resonance: a dynasty established by covenant grace and sustained by divine power, which every worshipper entering the Temple passed between as a living declaration.
