Footnotes
The *ha-miqtso'a* ("the Angle" or "the Buttress") is a structural feature of Jerusalem's northern wall, also mentioned in Neh. 3:19–20, 24–25. These three defensive points — corner, valley, and angle — represent a comprehensive circuit of the city's vulnerable approaches. Urban fortification is presented as an act of royal responsibility, anticipating the threat that would come with Assyrian expansion. Uzziah builds outward (against Philistines, Arabs) and inward (Jerusalem's walls) — a king at the height of his integrated power.
