*Avel-Mayim* (אָבֵל מַיִם) — 'meadow of waters' — likely identical to Abel-beth-maacah (1 Kgs. 15:20 uses that name for the same campaign). FOG retains the Hebrew compound to preserve its landscape poetry. The list of northern cities signals a swift, successful campaign — the plan works, which makes the seer's rebuke in verse 7 all the more arresting: short-term success is not the same as faithfulness.
