Three distinct cultic installations are named. *Bamot* (בָּמוֹת) were elevated open-air sanctuaries, often pre-Canaanite in origin but absorbed into Israelite popular worship. *Matzevot* (מַצֵּבוֹת) were standing stones associated with Baal veneration or ancestor cult — their smashing echoes Moshe's command in Deut. 12:3. *Asherot* (אֲשֵׁרִים) were wooden poles or stylised trees symbolising the Canaanite mother-goddess Asherah. FOG preserves all three Hebrew terms to honour the specificity of each object; FOG Message uses accessible English equivalents and lets the reform's sweep build in a single sentence.
