He works from a personal encounter with Jesus first, then draws on the scholarship of respected Jewish and Christian scholars — because the church was Jewish before it was anything else, and those roots change everything about how you read Scripture.

οἶκος θεοῦ = "household of God" — not merely a building but the entire social organism of a household: family, servants, honour codes, and mutual obligations; this framing gives the whole chapter its social logic, since overseer and servant roles mirror the management of any well-ordered household. ἑδραίωμα = from ἑδραῖος ("firmly seated/established") — the word can be rendered "support," "buttress," or "foundation," describing something that holds a structure stable and upright.
