οἰκονομίαν (oikonomian) means "household stewardship" — the administration of a master's estate. Both versions render it as "household-plan" to preserve the concrete image of God as householder whose redemptive economy operates through faith, not speculation. Some manuscripts read οἰκοδομίαν ("edification/building-up"), but the critical text favours οἰκονομίαν.
