In the ancient world, the birth of a son was the highest possible consolation — guaranteeing family continuity, honour, and security. The attendants offer what should be the best possible news. Her silence (לֹא-עָנְתָה וְלֹא-שָׂתָה לִבָּהּ, 'she did not answer nor set her heart to it') is a radical counter-cultural theological statement: the departure of YHWH's glory outweighs even the gift of an heir. No covenant blessing compensates for the loss of the Presence Himself. This unnamed woman embodies a purer theology than the elders who sent for the Ark as a lucky charm.
