But the troublemakers among David's men—the wicked and worthless—spoke up: 'They didn't march with us, so we won't share any of the plunder we recovered with them. Let them take their wives and children and go.'
Then every wicked man and son of beliya'al among those who had marched with David spoke up: 'Because they did not go with us, we will not give them any of the plunder we rescued—only each man his wife and children; let them take them and go.'
Then answered all the wicked men and men of Belial, of those that went with David, and said, Because they went not with us, we will not give them ought of the spoil that we have recovered, save to every man his wife and his children, that they may lead them away, and depart.
