David said to himself, "One of these days Saul is going to get me. The best thing I can do is escape to Philistine territory—then Saul will give up hunting me across all of Israel's borders, and I'll finally be free of him."
Dawid said to his heart, "Now I shall be swept away one day by the hand of Sha'ul. There is no better course for me than to escape to the land of the P'lishtim—then Sha'ul will despair of searching for me any longer throughout all the borders of Yisra'el, and I will slip free from his hand."
And David said in his heart, I shall now perish one day by the hand of Saul: there is nothing better for me than that I should speedily escape into the land of the Philistines; and Saul shall despair of me, to seek me any more in any coast of Israel: so shall I escape out of his hand.
David, however, said to himself, “One of these days now I will be swept away by the hand of Saul. There is nothing better for me than to escape to the land of the Philistines. Then Saul will stop searching for me all over Israel, and I will slip out of his hand.”
