Footnotes
The phrase *mashtin ba-qir* (מַשְׁתִּין בְּקִיר) — one who urinates against a wall — is a blunt Hebrew idiom for any male, a crude and emphatic way of saying not one man will survive. The MT reads the enemies of David, which is widely recognised as a *tiqqun soferim* — a scribal piety-correction. The original text almost certainly read to David himself, i.e., a self-imprecatory oath formula (God do so to me if I fail to act). The scribes softened it to protect David's dignity. FOG follows the MT while preserving the raw idiom; FOG Message renders the force of the oath dynamically.
