Footnotes
The reference to Yerushalayim is chronologically puzzling — at this point in the narrative the city was still a Jebusite stronghold, not conquered by Dawid until 2 Sam. 5:6–7. This may be a proleptic editorial note inserted by the final narrator, anticipating Dawid's future capital; or the head may have been displayed there at a later date. The LXX does not resolve the difficulty. The weapons stored "in his own tent" point to a personal trophy collection: Golyat's sword reappears years later at Nob (1 Sam. 21:9), where Dawid will call it uniquely irreplaceable. Both translations preserve the text as given, holding the narrative tension.
