Jonathan, however, had not heard his father's oath. He reached out the tip of his staff, dipped it into a honeycomb, and raised it to his mouth. At once his eyes lit up.
But Yonatan had not heard when his father charged the troops with the oath. He stretched out the tip of the staff in his hand and dipped it into a honeycomb. He raised his hand to his mouth, and his eyes brightened.
But Jonathan heard not when his father charged the people with the oath: wherefore he put forth the end of the rod that was in his hand, and dipped it in an honeycomb, and put his hand to his mouth; and his eyes were enlightened.
