ἐπὶ τὸ ξύλον (epi to xylon) is "onto the tree/wood" — Peter deliberately chooses ξύλον rather than σταυρός (stauros, "cross"), directly invoking Deuteronomy 21:22–23 (cf. Galatians 3:13): "anyone hung on a tree is under God's curse." This frames the atonement as explicit curse-bearing, not merely execution. τῷ μώλωπι (tō mōlōpi) is singular — "by His stripe/weal," not "stripes" — directly echoing Isaiah 53:5 Hebrew חַבֻּרָתוֹ (chabburato, singular). FOG preserves the singular with "single stripe"; FOG Message renders "wounds" following the received English tradition of Isaiah 53.
