Two distinct Greek words are deliberately paired: πάροικος (paroikos) = a resident alien, one who lives long-term in a foreign land without citizenship rights; παρεπίδημος (parepidēmos) = a transient visitor merely passing through. Together they form a complete portrait of displacement. FOG preserves the distinction with "resident aliens and transient sojourners"; FOG Message compresses to "strangers and exiles" for resonance. ψυχή (psychē) here is the whole animated self/life-force — not merely the immaterial soul — and FOG signals this with "nephesh" to invoke the full Hebrew concept of the living being.
