Nega levavo ('the wound/stroke of his heart') is a striking phrase — nega is the same word used for the skin-lesion of tzara'at and the 'plague' of v.37. Each worshipper comes knowing their own interior 'plague' — their particular affliction. The heart (lev) in Hebrew is the seat of thought, will, and emotion; its 'wound' is total. This verse extends the Temple's reach beyond national catastrophe into personal, interior suffering. FOG renders 'wound of his own heart'; FOG Message uses 'anguish' for emotional immediacy.
