*Devir* (דְּבִיר) is the innermost chamber, the Holy of Holies. Its etymology is contested: it may derive from *davar* (דָּבָר, 'word/thing'), suggesting it as the place where God speaks; or from a root meaning 'back/innermost,' denoting its position at the furthest reach of the House. Either way, it is the navel of sacred space—the point of most concentrated divine presence, where only the High Priest entered, once a year, on Yom Kippur. FOG preserves the Hebrew term *Devir* throughout; FOG Message uses 'inner sanctuary' and 'Most Holy Place.'
