שֶׁמֶן כָּתִית (shemen katit) literally means 'beaten oil'—olive oil extracted by the first cold press or by hand-pounding, yielding the purest and clearest grade. Critically, this is the identical quality of oil prescribed for the tabernacle lampstand (Exodus 27:20; Leviticus 24:2). Solomon's use of sanctuary-grade oil in a commercial transaction suggests he viewed the entire temple enterprise—including its trade agreements—as operating within a sacred register. A kor was approximately 220 litres, making this an enormous annual provision. FOG renders 'finest pressed oil'; FOG Message uses 'pure pressed olive oil.'
