Idols' here is *gilulim* — one of the Hebrew Bible's most contemptuous terms for false gods, likely derived from the word for dung-pellets or stone blocks. It is deliberately scornful. The comparison to the Emori/Amorites invokes the theology of Deuteronomy 9:4–5: the land was not given to Isra'el for her own righteousness but because of Canaanite wickedness. Ach'av has now descended to that level — the implication is chilling. FOG uses 'Emori' (Jewish transliteration); FOG Message uses 'Amorites' (traditional English form).
