τύπτοντες = "striking/beating/hitting" — physical assault vocabulary applied to what the knowledge-boaster does to another's conscience. Paul is not describing hurt feelings but moral violence. The argument then escalates in a single move: harm to a brother or sister → harm to Messiah Himself — because the community constitutes His body (cf. Acts 9:4, "Saul, why are you persecuting Me?"). The FOG renders "striking"; the FOG Message uses "beating" to reinforce the violence of the image.
