ἀπόλλυται is present tense — "is being destroyed, is perishing" — not a hypothetical warning but an ongoing reality. This root (ἀπόλλυμι) is the language of ultimate ruin and perdition. The phrase "for whom Christ died" is the theological load-bearing pillar of the entire argument: the cross has established the infinite worth of the weakest believer, and no meal can be weighed against what the Messiah purchased.
