Brothers, I have used Apollos and myself as an illustration for your sake — so you can learn what it means to live by "nothing beyond what is written," and so none of you will become arrogant, taking sides for one leader over another.
Now, brothers, I have applied all this to myself and Apollos for your benefit, so that through us you might learn the principle of "not beyond what is written" — so that none of you would be puffed up in favour of one against another.
And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and to Apollos for your sakes; that ye might learn in us not to think of men above that which is written, that no one of you be puffed up for one against another.
Brothers, I have applied these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, so that you may learn from us not to go beyond what is written. Then you will not take pride in one man over another.
