ἡ δύναμις τῆς ἁμαρτίας ὁ νόμος — A theologically compressed but crucial aside. The Torah/law gives sin its lethal power because it defines and identifies transgression — without the law's specification, sin cannot levy the death penalty (cf. Rom 7:7–13). This is not an attack on Torah but a diagnosis of how sin exploits what is holy and good to produce death. F.O.G preserves 'Torah' to keep the covenantal and Jewish texture alive; FOG Message uses 'law' as the conventional rendering.
