ἐκκλησία τοῦ θεοῦ (ekklēsia tou theou) — "assembly/church of God" — ἐκκλησία literally means "called-out assembly," the same word used for the civic gathering of a Greek city-state. Sha'ul's threefold division — Yehudim, Greeks (Gentiles), and the assembly of God — frames the new covenant community as a third humanity transcending ethnic identity. FOG renders "assembly" to recover the term's original force and resist later institutional domestication; FOG Message uses "church," which carries its own deep covenant-community resonance in the English tradition.
