The inclusion of Ephraim and Manasseh — northern tribes — is striking. The post-exilic community was not simply a reconstituted Judah but a restoration of all Yisra'el. The Chronicler consistently portrays the return as pan-Israelite, anticipating the full ingathering of the scattered tribes promised by the prophets (cf. Ezek. 37:15–22; Isa. 11:12–13).
