Footnotes
*Parbar* — Hebrew פַּרְבָּר (*parbar*) is a rare architectural term of genuinely uncertain etymology, appearing only here and in 2 Kings 23:11 (where it is associated with horses dedicated to the sun near the Temple's outer precincts). It may be borrowed from Persian (*parvara*, an outer building), or related to an Aramaic word for a forecourt or colonnade. The LXX renders it *pharourim* — essentially a transliteration, acknowledging the uncertainty. FOG retains "parbar" precisely because the term resists domestication; translating it would flatten genuine ambiguity. FOG Message uses "colonnade" as the most accessible approximation, following the LXX tradition.
