This verse resolves a notorious textual tension: 2 Samuel 21:19 appears to record Elhanan killing Goliath himself, seemingly contradicting David's victory in 1 Samuel 17. The Chronicler clarifies that Elhanan killed *Lahmi* (לַחְמִי), Goliath's *brother* — the name almost certainly lost in a scribal corruption in Samuel, where 'Lahmi' was absorbed into the place name 'Bethlehemite' (בֵּית הַלַּחְמִי). The identifying marker — the spear 'like a weaver's beam' (*ke-manor orgim*) — is the exact same phrase used of Goliath in 1 Samuel 17:7, a deliberate verbal echo marking a dynasty of champions. FOG retains 'Lachmi' and 'Golyat'; FOG Message uses the familiar English forms.
