The biographical detail 'sixty years old' is strikingly specific for a genealogical list, likely signalling that this union was remarkable — a patriarch of Yehudah taking a wife from the Manassite house of Machir, crossing tribal lines to produce a branch that settles in Gil'adic territory (vv. 22–23). Machir son of Manasseh is associated with the Transjordanian conquest in Numbers 32:39–40.
