(34) But He didn't speak to them without a riddle and explained everything privately to His own *disciples.

He always used stories when speaking to the crowds, but privately He explained everything to His closest disciples—rewarding those who were intimately following His every step.

and without a simile he was not speaking to them, and by themselves, to his disciples he was expounding all.
