He did not tell them anything without using a parable. But privately He explained everything to His own disciples.

(34) But He didn't speak to them without a riddle and explained everything privately to His own *disciples.

[34] He always used stories when speaking to the crowds, but privately He explained everything to His disciples—showing how deeper understanding comes through intimate relationship with Him.
The F.O.G Paraphrase
and without a simile he was not speaking to them, and by themselves, to his disciples he was expounding all.
