When the scribes who were Pharisees saw Jesus eating with these people, they asked His disciples, “Why does He eat with tax collectors and sinners?”

When the religious scholars and Pharisees saw Jesus eating with such "questionable" company, they challenged His disciples: "How can your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners? Doesn't He care about maintaining ritual purity?"
