Then he sent them another servant, and they struck him over the head and treated him shamefully.

[4] Undeterred by their shocking response, the owner sent another servant in good faith. This time they went even further, striking him on the head - a deeply dishonorable act in their culture - and subjecting him to humiliating treatment.
