[1] Jesus then shared a striking story about God's relationship with His people: A landowner carefully planted a vineyard, building a protective wall around it, digging a pit for the winepress, and erecting a watchtower. He then leased it to farmers who would tend it while he traveled abroad, trusting them to be faithful stewards of his investment.
