Then Jesus began to speak to them in parables: “A man planted a vineyard. He put a wall around it, dug a wine vat, and built a watchtower. Then he rented it out to some tenants and went away on a journey.

With tensions mounting, Jesus began speaking to them again in parables, saying, "A landowner carefully planted a vineyard, built a protective wall around it, dug a pit for the winepress, and built a watchtower. He then leased it to vinedressers who would tend it while he traveled abroad.
