When Herod saw Jesus, he was greatly pleased. He had wanted to see Him for a long time, because he had heard about Him and was hoping to see Him perform a miracle.
Berean Standard Bible (BSB)
Now when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceedingly glad, for he had wanted to see him for a long time, because he had heard many things about him. He hoped to see some miracle done by him.

(8) Now Herod was rejoicing extremely, seeing Yeshua, because he had wanted to see Him for a considerable time for he'd been hearing about Him and hoped to see something, a sign from Him happen.

[8] Herod was delighted to see Jesus, having wanted to meet Him for a long time. He hoped to see Jesus perform some miracle, treating divine power as entertainment.

And Herod having seen Jesus did rejoice exceedingly, for he was wishing for a long time to see him, because of hearing many things about him, and he was hoping some sign to see done by him,
