When Jesus saw the crowds, He went up on the mountain and sat down. His disciples came to Him,

Seeing the multitudes, he went up onto the mountain. When he had sat down, his disciples came to him.

(1) Now seeing the crowds, He went up on the mountain and He sat down and His disciples (talmidim) came to Him.

Seeing the growing crowds, Jesus climbed a hillside. As He sat down to teach, His disciples gathered close around Him, creating an intimate atmosphere despite the multitude.
