Got a Minute extra for God?
Has anyone ever told you: יהוה (Yahweh) God loves you and has a great plan for your life?
Has anyone ever told you: יהוה (Yahweh) God loves you and has a great plan for your life?
Are you concerned about the security of your salvation? Good news – Jesus wants you to be confident in your eternal life with Him! While He did give four specific warnings about ways people can forfeit their salvation, He also provided clear guidance on how to stay secure in His love. Let’s explore these warnings and, more importantly, how you can maintain a thriving relationship with Jesus that keeps you safe from these dangers.
Our starting point is God’s amazing promise in John 10:28-29: “I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.” This shows God’s heart – He wants to keep you secure! Furthermore, Romans 8:38-39 assures us that no external force can separate us from His love.
However, Jesus, in His love and wisdom, warned us about four specific choices that can separate us from this security. Let’s look at each warning and, crucially, how to stay protected:
Jesus warned in Matthew 10:32-33: “Whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father.” But take heart – even Peter, who denied Jesus three times, was restored! The key is maintaining a bold confession of faith.

While Jesus warned about this unforgivable sin in Mark 3:28-29, He also taught us how to maintain a healthy relationship with the Holy Spirit.

Jesus warned the Laodicean church about being lukewarm in Revelation 3:15-16. This includes being ashamed of Him (Luke 9:26). But He also showed us how to maintain spiritual fervor!

Jesus was clear in Matthew 6:14-15 about the connection between receiving and giving forgiveness. The good news is He taught us how to maintain a forgiving heart!

Think of these protective practices like healthy spiritual food or vitamins – they strengthen your immune system against these dangers. Just as you wouldn’t stop taking medicine because you feel healthy, don’t neglect these practices when your faith feels strong. They’re preventive measures that keep you healthy!
Remember, God’s desire is for you to be secure in His love. These warnings aren’t meant to create anxiety but to help you stay close to Him. When you stumble (and everyone does), quickly return to these practices and remember Peter’s example – restoration is always possible through genuine repentance.
You don’t need to live in fear of accidentally losing your salvation. These dangers involve conscious choices, not mistakes or moments of weakness. The very fact that you care about staying close to God is evidence of His Spirit working in you!
Regular struggles with sin or doubt aren’t the same as these four dangers. The key difference is your heart’s attitude – are you fighting against sin and seeking God, or deliberately walking away from Him?
God has given you everything you need to stay secure in your salvation! By maintaining these spiritual practices and staying alert to these warnings, you can walk confidently in your faith. Remember, Jesus’ desire is for you to be eternally secure in His love – these warnings are guardrails, not guilt trips!
In ancient Roman military camps, soldiers would have a “tessera” – a small tablet that served as their proof of membership in the army and right to receive provisions. They had to guard this carefully and present it regularly. Similarly, while our salvation is secure in Christ, actively maintaining our relationship with Him through spiritual disciplines ensures we stay within His protection and provision.
יהוה (Yahweh's) words are pure words,
Psalm 12:6 F.O.G
As silver smelted in a crucible on the land, Refined seven times.
