For through many tears I wrote you out of great distress and anguish of heart, not to grieve you but to let you know how much I love you.

[4] I wrote that letter in deep anguish, with a troubled heart and through many tears. My purpose wasn't to wound you, but to let you know the depth of my love - love so vast it sometimes hurts, like a parent's heart breaking over a wayward child.
