(18) in order that your fasting isn't noticed by mankind but by Your Father in secret. Your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

Don't let others know you're fasting. It's between you and your Father alone. And your Father, who sees what you do in secret with pure motives, will reward your genuine devotion.
