John 19:3

And they went up to Him again and again, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” and slapping Him in the face.

(3) Coming up to Him and saying, "Rejoice! King of the Y'hudim and gave Him blows (slaps in the face)."

[3] Again and again they approached Him, sneering "Hail, king of the Jews!" while striking His face with their hands, each blow revealing humanity's capacity for cruelty toward divine love.

and said, ‘Hail! the king of the Jews;’ and they were giving him slaps.
