When Jesus heard about John, He withdrew by boat privately to a solitary place. But the crowds found out about it and followed Him on foot from the towns.

When Jesus heard this devastating news about His beloved cousin and forerunner, He withdrew by boat to a remote place to be alone. But word spread, and crowds from the towns followed Him on foot along the shore.
