So Pilate said to Him, “Do You refuse to speak to me? Do You not know that I have authority to release You and authority to crucify You?”

(10) So Pilate says to Him, "Not speaking to me? Don't You know that I have authority to release You and have authority to crucify You?"

[10] "Do You refuse to speak to me?" Pilate demanded. "Don't You realize I have power either to free You or to crucify You?" – worldly authority asserting itself before divine sovereignty.

Pilate, therefore, saith to him, ‘To me dost thou not speak? hast thou not known that I have authority to crucify thee, and I have authority to release thee?’
