If the axe is dull and the blade unsharpened, more strength must be exerted, but skill produces success.


World English Bible (WEB)

If the axe is blunt, and one doesn’t sharpen the edge, then he must use more strength; but skill brings success.


Strong's King James

If the iron{H1270} be blunt{H6949}{(H8765)}, and he do not whet{H7043}{(H8773)} the edge{H6440}, then must he put{H1396}{(H8762)} to more strength{H2428}: but wisdom{H2451} is profitable{H3504} to direct{H3787}{(H8687)}.
