As you saw the iron mixed with clay, so the peoples will mix with one another, but will not hold together any more than iron mixes with clay.

Whereas you saw the iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men; but they shall not cling to one another, even as iron does not mingle with clay.

And whereas{H1768} thou sawest{H2370}{(H8754)} iron{H6523} mixed{H6151}{(H8743)} with miry{H2917} clay{H2635}, they shall mingle themselves{H1934}{(H8748)}{H6151}{(H8723)} with the seed{H2234} of men{H606}: but they shall{H1934}{(H8748)} not{H3809} cleave{H1693}{(H8751)} one{H1836} to{H5974} another{H1836}, even{H1888} as iron{H6523} is not{H3809} mixed{H6151}{(H8723)} with clay{H2635}.

And in that you saw iron mixing with clay of mud, they will be mixing with the seed of mankind. But they won't be [capable of] clinging together, this with this, just as iron isn't [capable of] mixing with clay pottery.
