(7) But by His Word, the skies above and the land are now reserved for fire, kept for a day of justice and destruction of ungodly men.

[7] By this same powerful Word, the present heavens and earth are being preserved like precious artifacts in a museum, kept for the day of judgment when fire will test everything. On that day, those who have rejected יהוה will face their final reckoning.
